Submission Instructions

Submission of an Article

To ensure efficient and timely processing of manuscripts, authors are required to adhere to the scope, length, format, and ethical standards of Athenaeum Scientific Publishers journals at all stages from initial submission through revisions and final acceptance.

Manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines may be returned for correction prior to peer review.

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process in accordance with the journal’s Peer Review Policy.

Abstract

  • Each submission must include a structured abstract of up to 300 words, provided separately from the main text.
  • The abstract should clearly state:
    • Purpose of the study
    • Methodology
    • Key findings
    • Principal conclusions
  • Subheadings, where used, should be concise and not exceed 40 characters.

Accepted Article Types

Athenaeum Scientific Publishers accepts the following manuscript categories, subject to journal scope:

Each article type must follow the specific structural requirements outlined below.


Article Preparation Guidelines

Cover Letter

Authors must submit an electronic cover letter that clearly states:

  • Manuscript category
  • Confirmation of originality
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest
  • Confirmation of ethical compliance


Unless specifically invited by the Editorial Office, manuscripts must not be submitted as Editorials or Letters to the Editor.


Authorship Criteria

  • All listed authors must meet the journal’s authorship criteria based on substantial intellectual contribution.
  • The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that:
    • All authors approve the final version
    • No qualified contributor has been omitted


Originality and Exclusivity

  • Manuscripts must not be under simultaneous consideration elsewhere.
  • Any prior dissemination (e.g., preprints) must be transparently disclosed.


Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure

Authors must clearly declare:

  • Financial support
  • Institutional or commercial affiliations
  • Any relationships that could be perceived as a conflict of interest

If no conflicts exist, authors must explicitly state so.


Title Page Requirements

The title page must include:

  • Full article title (no acronyms)
  • Running title (short title)
  • Full names of all authors
  • Institutional affiliations
  • Corresponding author’s complete contact details, ORCID iD (where available)
  • Funding and grant information (if applicable)


Manuscript Formatting

  • Pages must be numbered consecutively, including references, tables, and figure legends.
  • Tables and figures must be cited in the text and provided separately.
  • Standard scientific nomenclature and abbreviations must be used consistently.


Article-Specific Guidelines

Research Articles

Research articles should present original empirical or secondary data supported by a clearly defined methodology.

Structure:

  • Structured abstract (Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion)
  • Keywords (3–8)
  • Introduction
  • Methodology
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References, Tables, and Figures


Review Articles

Review articles critically synthesize existing literature relevant to the journal’s scope.

Structure:

  • Abstract (≤300 words)
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Thematic analysis supported by citations
  • Tables/Figures (where appropriate)
  • Conclusion
  • References

All claims must be supported by appropriate citations.

Commentaries

Commentaries provide expert perspectives on recent developments or research.

  • Brief abstract and keywords
  • Analytical discussion
  • Supporting references
  • Concise conclusion


Case Reports / Case Studies

Case reports should contribute novel insights to clinical or investigative practice.

Structure:

  • Abstract (≤300 words)
  • Case description and methodology
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion

Appropriate patient consent and ethical considerations must be addressed.


Editorials

Editorials are published by invitation only and must be submitted within the specified timeframe provided by the Editorial Office.

Clinical Images

  • Maximum of 5 images
  • Text description ≤300 words
  • No separate figure legends
  • Up to 3 references (if essential)
  • Preferred formats: TIFF or EPS or JPG


Letters to the Editor / Concise Communications

  • Focused responses to previously published articles
  • No abstract or subheadings
  • Must be submitted within 6 months of publication
  • Editorial discretion applies

References

  • Only published or accepted works may be cited
  • Unpublished data and personal communications must be justified
  • References must follow the journal’s prescribed citation style (Vancouver style)
  • No citations should appear in the abstract


Supplementary Information

  • Supplementary material must be submitted as a single PDF
  • Clearly referenced in the main text
  • Images must meet size and resolution requirements


NIH Public Access Policy

Athenaeum Scientific Publishers supports NIH-funded authors by depositing the final published version in PubMed Central immediately upon publication, where applicable and in accordance with funder requirements.

Proofs and Author Access

  • Proofs are sent electronically to the corresponding author
  • Only minor typographical corrections are permitted at this stage
  • Authors receive free electronic access to the published article


Open Access and Licensing

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) License, allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction provided the original work is properly cited.


COPE Compliance Statement

Athenaeum Scientific Publishers adheres to the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to uphold the highest standards of publication ethics.
