Journal of Orthopaedic Science and Research

The Journal of Orthopaedic Science and Research is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, transparency, and scientific integrity. The journal follows internationally recognized best practices to ensure the quality, credibility, and accessibility of published research.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process.

  • Submissions are initially evaluated by the editorial team for scope, originality, and scientific quality
  • Suitable manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise within the journal’s scope
  • Reviewers remain anonymous to authors, and authors’ identities are concealed from reviewers
  • Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest and should not have direct institutional or collaborative affiliations with the authors.

Editorial Decisions:
Based on reviewer recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts before final acceptance.

Review Timeline:
The average peer review process takes approximately 2–4 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity.

Appeals:
Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a justified request to the editorial office. Appeals are handled independently.

Publication Ethics

The journal follows the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows international standards of ethical publishing.

The journal strictly prohibits:

  • Written informed consent must be obtained

For animal studies:

  • Authors must confirm compliance with institutional and international ethical guidelines

Manuscripts lacking proper ethical approval or consent will not be considered.

Conflict of Interest

All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest.

If no conflicts exist, authors should state:

Data Availability

  • APCs are applicable only after manuscript acceptance
  • There are no submission or hidden charges
  • APCs do not influence editorial decisions

Waivers may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Editorial decisions are made independently of any financial considerations, including Article Processing Charges (APCs) or optional membership programs.

The journal ensures long-term digital preservation of its content through Portico, where Athenaeum Scientific Publishers is listed as a participating publisher.

Content integration with Portico is currently in progress in accordance with Portico’s archiving processes to ensure permanent accessibility and protection against data loss.

In addition, the journal maintains secure internal archiving systems, including regular backups and repository dissemination, to ensure continued availability of published content.

The journal is also committed to expanding its preservation infrastructure through additional recognized archiving systems such as CLOCKSS and LOCKSS, where applicable.
