ORCID iD Policy

Athenaeum Scientific Publishers is committed to maintaining high standards of scholarly communication, transparency, and global discoverability. In alignment with international publishing best practices, Athenaeum journals encourage the use of ORCID iDs for author identification.

ORCID iD Recommendation

For all manuscripts submitted to Athenaeum journals:

  • The Corresponding Author is strongly encouraged to provide a valid ORCID iD at the time of submission.
  • Co-authors are also encouraged to provide their ORCID iDs to ensure accurate attribution.

Submission without an ORCID iD will not prevent peer review or editorial consideration; however, authors are encouraged to provide ORCID iDs to enhance discoverability and attribution.

About ORCID

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a non-proprietary, persistent digital identifier that uniquely distinguishes researchers and connects their scholarly contributions across publishers, institutions, and platforms.

Why Athenaeum Encourages ORCID

Use of ORCID iDs enables Athenaeum to:

  • Ensure precise author identification and reduce name ambiguity
  • Improve article discoverability and citation tracking
  • Deposit complete and reliable metadata with Crossref
  • Enable automatic updates to authors’ ORCID records after publication
  • Meet requirements of international directories, indexes, and research infrastructure services

ORCID Authentication

Authors are encouraged to authenticate their ORCID iD during submission by connecting their ORCID account. Authentication allows Athenaeum to update the author’s ORCID record automatically upon publication via Crossref.

How to Register for ORCID

ORCID registration is free and quick.

Register at: https://orcid.org/register

Use of ORCID Information

ORCID iDs provided during submission will be:

  • Displayed on the published article webpage and PDF
  • Included in Crossref DOI metadata deposits
  • Used for indexing, discoverability, and author attribution purposes only

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the ORCID iD provided is accurate and belongs to the submitting author. Providing incorrect or false ORCID information may result in delays or rejection of the manuscript.
