Author Guidelines

Athenaeum Scientific Publishers welcomes original scientific manuscripts in medicine, clinical sciences, dental and allied health research, and related disciplines. Submissions must demonstrate significance, scientific excellence, and adherence to ethical research standards.

These Author Guidelines provide essential information for preparing and submitting manuscripts for publication consideration.

1. Originality and Ethical Conduct

  1. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal.
  2. Potential overlap with prior publications (e.g., preprints) must be transparently declared at submission.
  3. Research involving human participants or animals must include appropriate ethical approval and informed consent statements. Refer to the Publication Ethics Policy for detailed requirements.

2. Manuscript Submission

Authors should submit manuscripts via the journal’s online submission system. All submissions should include a cover letter and complete author information.

During submission, authors will be prompted to confirm that they agree to the journal’s Article Processing Charge (APC) Policy and Withdrawal Policy where applicable.

3. Article Structure and Format

3.1 General Format

Manuscripts should generally follow a clear structure, including (where appropriate):

  • Title page
  • Abstract and keywords
  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References
  • Acknowledgments
  • Figure legends and table captions


3.2 Title

The title should be concise, specific, and informative, enabling effective electronic retrieval. A short running title (≤40 characters) is recommended.

3.3 Authors and Affiliations

Provide full names and affiliations for all authors. Authors’ institutional affiliations should reflect where the work was conducted. The corresponding author must be designated and include full contact details.

4. Abstract and Keywords

  • The abstract should be a structured summary of the study, including key objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Must include 3-8 keywords for indexing purposes.

5. Main Text Sections

Introduction

Provide background, context, and the rationale for the research. Conclude with clear study objectives.

Methods

Describe methods in sufficient detail to allow reproducibility. Include details of statistical analyses, experimental protocols, and ethical approvals.

Results

Present outcomes clearly, including both positive and negative findings. Tables and figures should be referred to in the text and appropriately labeled.

Discussion and Conclusion

Interpret results, discuss relevance, limitations, and implications for future research. Avoid overstating conclusions.

6. References

  1. Include only published or accepted works in the reference list.
  2. References should be accurate and formatted consistently with journal style (Vancouver Style).
  3. Citations must match the reference list, and no citations should appear in the abstract.
  4. All references must be cited in the text of the manuscript in the numerical series [1,2].

7. Figures and Tables

  • Figures and tables should be of high resolution and submitted as separate files.
  • Provide clear legends and ensure they are discussed in the text.
  • Photographs and images must meet minimum resolution standards (e.g., ≥300 dpi).

8. Acknowledgments and Funding

8.1 Acknowledgments

List individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet authorship criteria. Ensure anyone named has agreed to be acknowledged.

8.2 Funding

Provide details of all funding sources and describe their role in the study design, data collection, analysis, manuscript preparation, or publication decisions.

9. Conflict of Interest and Disclosure

Authors must declare all potential conflicts of interest, including financial or professional relationships that could influence the research outcomes. If none exist, a statement to that effect must be included.

10. Abbreviations and Nomenclature

  • Define non-standard abbreviations at first use and include a list of abbreviations.
  • Follow internationally accepted nomenclature standards where applicable.

11. Supplementary Information

Supplementary files (e.g., extended datasets, detailed methods) should be submitted as a single PDF and clearly referenced in the manuscript.

12. Peer Review and Publication Process

Manuscripts are reviewed through a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Resubmissions following revision should be accompanied by a response to reviewer comments.

Electronic proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for final review. Once published, articles are immediately available under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY).

13. Article Processing Charges

Athenaeum Scientific Publishers operates as a self-financed open access publisher. There are no submission charges; APCs are due only after acceptance.

COPE Alignment and Ethical Standards

All submissions are evaluated in accordance with the principles and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors are expected to uphold research integrity and reporting standards consistent with COPE guidelines.
