My research identity is shaped by a commitment to advancing the science and practice of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, with a special focus on eyelid reconstruction, orbital and adnexal tumours, periocular trauma, and innovative minimally visible surgical approaches. I aim to bridge clinical excellence with translational research to develop evidence-based solutions that improve functional and aesthetic outcomes for patients across diverse healthcare settings. At the core of my research philosophy is the belief that precision in anatomical restoration, combined with aesthetic awareness and patient-centred care, forms the foundation of modern oculoplastic surgery. My work is driven by the need to refine surgical techniques, introduce innovative incisional approaches, and optimise management protocols for conditions such as external angular dermoids, peripapillary tumours, thermal burns, and complex eyelid defects. Through observational studies, clinical trials, procedural innovations, and multi-centre collaborations, I seek to generate impactful knowledge that directly enhances surgical decision-making and improves long-term patient satisfaction. In parallel, I maintain a strong interest in orbital oncology and ocular adnexal pathology, focusing on early detection, multimodal treatment strategies, and outcome prediction in rare tumours. I also engage in cross-disciplinary research incorporating imaging technology, digital tools, and educational innovations to strengthen diagnostic accuracy and surgical planning in oculoplasty. As President of several international ophthalmic bodies (WAOPRS, WAOS, WOTA, IAO, IMO), I am dedicated to building global academic networks, promoting ethical research practices, and mentoring the next generation of clinician–scientists. My long-term vision is to establish a robust, globally connected research ecosystem that drives advancements in reconstructive ophthalmology, fosters innovation, and ensures equitable access to high-quality surgical care worldwide. Through sustained publication, collaborative engagement, and leadership in professional societies, I aspire to contribute meaningfully to the global body of knowledge in oculoplastic surgery and be recognised as a leading researcher and educator in this evolving field.
