Below is guidance for authors when preparing their manuscript, details about our Editorial policies relating to research integrity and publication ethics and information about how to report a concern in a published article or a manuscript in review.
Manuscripts may be rejected if the editors believe that the research has not been carried out within an appropriate ethical framework, and concerns raised after publication may lead to a correction, retraction, or expression of concern in line with COPE guidelines.

All manuscripts submitted to Athenaeum Scientific Publishers journals undergo double-blind peer review by independent experts. Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly quality, originality, methodological rigor, and ethical compliance, in accordance with COPE guidance. All peer review records are retained securely in accordance with internal record-keeping policies.
Editorial decisions are made exclusively by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team. The publisher does not influence peer review, editorial evaluation, or acceptance decisions.
Article Processing Charges (APCs), where applicable, do not affect editorial decisions.
Research involving human participants, identifiable materials, or personal data must comply with internationally accepted ethical standards, including the Declaration of Helsinki.

Identifiable information must be anonymized unless explicit written consent for publication has been obtained.
Research involving animals must comply with internationally recognized guidelines, such as the ARRIVE guidelines, and must have been approved by an appropriate institutional or national ethics committee.
Authors must state:
Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial or non-financial relationships that could be perceived as influencing the research or its evaluation.
All declared conflicts of interest must be clearly stated in the manuscript. Where no conflicts exist, authors must explicitly state that there are none.
Authors must disclose all sources of funding and describe the role of the funder in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and publication decisions. If the funder had no role, this must be stated.
Authorship must comply with the ICMJE authorship criteria. All listed authors must have made a substantial contribution to the work and approved the final manuscript.
Each manuscript must include an Author Contributions Statement. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.
Authors are required to include a Data Availability Statement describing whether and where the data supporting the findings can be accessed.
Where data cannot be publicly shared for ethical or legal reasons, this must be clearly stated. Editorial decisions are not influenced by whether data are shared publicly.
Generative AI tools may be used only for language editing or formatting assistance.
AI tools must not be listed as authors.
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the content and must disclose any AI use in the manuscript.
AI use for data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation is not permitted.
Reviewers and editors must not upload unpublished manuscripts or confidential material to AI tools.
Authors must provide sufficient methodological detail to allow evaluation and reproducibility of the research. Data, protocols, and code should be shared where possible. Any limitations affecting reproducibility must be clearly stated.
Submission of manuscripts previously posted as preprints is permitted. Authors must disclose the existence of a preprint and provide appropriate citation details. Posting a preprint does not constitute prior publication.
Plagiarism in any form is not tolerated. Athenaeum Scientific Publishers uses plagiarism detection software to screen submissions.
If plagiarism is identified at any stage, manuscripts may be rejected, corrected, or retracted in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Errors affecting the accuracy or interpretation of an article are corrected through the publication of an Erratum.
Articles containing serious errors or ethical breaches may be retracted in accordance with COPE guidelines. Retraction notices remain permanently linked to the original article. Corrections and retraction notices are issued promptly and remain permanently accessible as part of the scholarly record.
Athenaeum Scientific Publishers remains neutral with regard to jurisdictional claims in published maps, institutional affiliations, and author statements.
Athenaeum Scientific Publishers does not publish research directly or indirectly funded by the tobacco industry or tobacco-related entities. Authors must disclose all funding sources and relevant relationships at submission.
