Data Availability Policy

Athenaeum Scientific Publishers supports transparency, reproducibility, and integrity in scholarly research. Authors are encouraged to make the data underlying their research findings openly available wherever possible.

Data Availability Statement (Required)

All submitted manuscripts must include a Data Availability Statement that clearly indicates:

  • Where the data supporting the findings can be accessed
  • Whether the data are publicly available, available on request, or restricted
  • Any conditions or limitations related to data access

This statement must be included in the manuscript prior to acceptance.


Data Sharing and Repositories

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Deposit data in recognized public or institutional repositories
  • Provide persistent identifiers such as DOIs, accession numbers, or stable URLs
  • Ensure that data are accessible in a format that supports reuse and verification

Where applicable, authors should follow discipline-specific data sharing standards.


Types of Data Covered

This policy applies to all research data associated with submitted manuscripts, including:

  • Raw and processed datasets
  • Clinical and observational study data (where ethically permitted)
  • Images, figures, and supplementary materials
  • Software, code, and analytical methods


Ethical, Legal, and Privacy Considerations

Data sharing must comply with ethical and legal requirements.

Where data cannot be made publicly available due to:

  • Patient confidentiality or privacy concerns
  • Ethical restrictions or lack of consent
  • Legal or proprietary limitations

Authors must clearly state the reason in the Data Availability Statement.


Examples of Data Availability Statements

Authors may use one of the following formats:

  • “The data supporting the findings of this study are available in [repository name] at [DOI/link].”
  • “The datasets generated and/or analyzed during the current study are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request.”
  • “Data are not publicly available due to ethical/privacy restrictions.”


Editorial and Peer Review Requirements

  • Editors and reviewers may request access to underlying data during the peer review process
  • Authors must be prepared to provide data when reasonably requested
  • Failure to provide supporting data may result in rejection or withdrawal of the manuscript
