Withdrawal Policy

Athenaeum Scientific Publishers is committed to ethical, transparent, and responsible scholarly publishing. Authors are encouraged to carefully review this Withdrawal Policy before submitting a manuscript.

Manuscript withdrawal requests are handled in accordance with recognized publication ethics standards and are subject to the editorial process stages outlined below.

1. Withdrawal Before Acceptance

Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript at any time prior to editorial acceptance without incurring any Article Processing Charges (APCs).

Withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author to the journal’s editorial office and should include the manuscript title and manuscript ID.

No APCs or other publication-related fees are charged for manuscripts that are rejected or withdrawn before acceptance.

2. Withdrawal After Acceptance (Before Publication)

Once a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication, significant editorial and production work has been completed.

In such cases:

  • The Article Processing Charge (APC) becomes applicable in accordance with the journal’s publication charges policy.

  • If the APC has been invoiced but not yet paid, it remains payable in accordance with the journal’s publication charges policy.

  • If the APC has already been paid, it is non-refundable.

Withdrawal requests at this stage must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author with confirmation from all co-authors.

3. Withdrawal After Publication

Published articles constitute part of the permanent scholarly record and cannot be withdrawn.

In exceptional circumstances, such as serious errors or ethical concerns, authors may request one of the following, subject to editorial assessment:

  • A correction

  • A retraction

  • An editorial expression of concern

All post-publication matters are handled in accordance with the journal’s Corrections and Retractions Policy and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices.

4. Withdrawal Request Procedure

All withdrawal requests should include:

  • Manuscript title

  • Manuscript ID

  • Reason for withdrawal

  • Written confirmation from the corresponding author (and all authors where applicable)

A manuscript is considered withdrawn only after written confirmation is provided by the editorial office.

5. Ethical Considerations

Authors are expected to submit manuscripts with a genuine intention to participate constructively in the peer-review and publication process.

Repeated or inappropriate withdrawal requests may be reviewed by the editorial office in the context of ethical publishing standards when considering future submissions. Editorial decisions are never influenced by payment-related matters.

6. Policy Acknowledgment

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to this Withdrawal Policy and the journal’s Publication Charges (APC) Policy.
